Layla is known for her versatility in volleyball, playing various positions including outside hitter (OH), middle blocker (MB), and right-side hitter (RS). As a varsity player for Fairfax High School and a member of Paramount VBC, she has demonstrated her ability to adapt and thrive in multiple roles. Her success on the court is evident through numerous achievements, such as being named MVP Middle Blocker at James Madison University’s Positions Camp in July 2023 and receiving the Most Improved Player of the Season award for the 2022-2023 season.
Her strong work ethic and leadership have also been recognized by her school, as Layla was awarded the Fairfax High School Athlete of the Month in September 2023. With her love for volleyball and commitment to improving her game, Layla continues to make her mark in competitions, including standout performances at national tournaments like the 2023 AAU National Championships and the Prep Volleyball Sunshine Classic.
Academic Excellence and Leadership
Layla’s talents extend beyond the volleyball court. She is a driven student with a passion for mathematics and science, earning the Fairfax High School Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a GPA above 3.8 during the 2022-2023 school year. Her academic success is complemented by her involvement in extracurricular activities, where she demonstrates leadership as the creator and president of the architecture club and a participant in the Student Athlete Mental Health Club.
Additionally, Layla’s curiosity and commitment to learning were showcased at the Fairfax High School Science and Engineering Fair, where she earned an Honorable Mention Award for her project in the Plant Sciences category. This blend of academic prowess and leadership makes her a well-rounded student-athlete with a bright future ahead.

"I love this sport because of the community it’s been able to create and bring together," Layla shares. The competitive environment, coupled with the camaraderie she has developed with her teammates and coaches, has fueled her passion and drive to constantly improve. Volleyball has been a source of joy and growth for Layla, helping her hone her skills both on and off the court.
College Aspirations
Looking to the future, Layla has her sights set on playing volleyball at the collegiate level. She aspires to attend a university that combines a competitive volleyball program with academic excellence. Some of her top college choices include the University of Florida, University of Louisville, Penn State University, and Stanford University, among others. With her determination and commitment to the sport, Layla is poised to make an impact wherever she chooses to continue her volleyball journey.
Inspirations and Legacy
Layla credits much of her success to her parents, who have supported her every step of the way. "I couldn’t imagine myself without their love and support," Layla notes. Her parents have been instrumental in helping her develop both as a person and an athlete.
As she continues to grow and pursue her goals, Layla hopes to leave a lasting legacy that challenges conventional notions of what it means to be an athlete. "To prove height, physical characteristics, and being an athlete doesn’t define who you are as a person," she states. Layla’s story is one of resilience, passion, and a desire to inspire others to be their best selves.
